iKon B1 Slant on OSS Handle

The First & Best Stainless Steel Slant on the Market.

Our Proprietary B1 Coating Provides Corrosion and Stain Protection:  stainless steel will oxidize and stain, even high grade stainless steel.  iKon’s B1 coating protects the stainless steel from corrosion, oxidation and tea staining, which is common when stainless steel is exposed to tap water, soap and different grades of steel blades.

will work on any iKon manufactured handle

I purchased the B1 slant head, which I paired with an ordinary stainless Bulldog handle. As a point of comparison, I also have an iKon DLC open comb. The B1 coating is matte, while the DLC is shiny, but they both seem very hard and durable. Can’t really say that either coating improves the shave by making the razor glide better, but I have no doubt that both will prevent corrosion.

As for the slant head, believe what I write. There has been a great deal splattered around the Internet about how this razor is aggressive and will cut you to pieces. Not so. I find it to be less aggressive than the open comb DLC. However, the blade is somewhat more acutely exposed to the skin, and if I’m careless it will nick me. So the shave is almost on the mild side, while ironically it seems more likely to draw blood than my other razors, at least if I am not mindful of technique.

There is no denying that the slant shaves efficiently. I am able to get that “baby’s bottom” effect without going over the same area as many times. And that means less irritation. My beard is only moderately coarse, but it seems to grow in every direction at once and hides itself behind the jawline. I’m prone to force the issue, which means a lot of shaving to get completely clean. The slant reduces the need to hack at my jaw to get a smooth shave.

Another urban legend is the difficulty in blade alignment. I can’t comment on earlier versions, but it’s no problem on the B1. The blade alignment posts are long enough to hold the blade square as it is screwed down. Fit and finish are excellent. My old stainless, uncoated Bulldog handle fits the new threads precisely.

If the cost is not off putting and you value an efficient and comfortable shave, buy this razor. Just mind your technique, and you will love it.

This is a revision of my review below. This razor is no more likely to nick me than any other, just needed to get acclimated to it. I switched out my usual Kai blade for a Feather and used very light pressure — BANG! Best shave I’ve ever gotten. They are all like that, unbelievably close with no irritation. I can state unequivocally that this is the best razor I own, including Feather AS D2 and an iKon open comb DLC. The slant concept really works, far more efficient than a straight cut. If you can swing the Benjamins and are an epicurean shaver, buy this bad boy. You won’t be able to stop rubbing your face.

A really great slant. It’s a bit more efficient than the 102, RazoRock Slant in Stainless Steel or Above the Tie S1 slant. It’s not exactly agressive, I think there is a bigger gap for the blade exposure and the angle of the blade make it not agressive. I had some really nice shave with and one with irritation. I’m guessing the blade need to be pair wisely as I try different with it.

Overall it’s a great razor I really like it’s efficienty with it’s slant effect it’s just eat anything and fit with tough beard. I’ll probably not use it for everyday shave or considere it as a starter razor but it’s an enjoyable razor for any hairy man. For starter or more daily use I’ll go with the 102 slant witch is a great deal.

I have purchass this slant with the bulldog handle. I don’t like so much the OSS handle it’s a little prickly on finger. I my opinion the buldog handle is one of the best in the market.

I have really no idea why both handle and this slant head look to be discontinued or stop to produce, they are great stuff.
